English is a very tricky language. What teacher doesn’t know that? (I teach English and Latin, and in some ways Latin is easier to teach than English.) Some word experts think English may have as many as a million words (compare that rae ae with French, which has only about 100,000), and those words could NX come from as many as 100 different languages (maybe more). English a ae is loaded with so many irregularities, exceptions to rules, and inexplicable variations that we teachers need all the help we can get. That’s where this book comes in. For more than 40 years as an elementary and middle school language arts teacher, I’ve been using worksheets for my students that address the many aspects of English grammar, usage, and mechanics in quick and fun ways. These worksheets have always helped reinforce the daily lessons. Sometimes I use them to introduce new lessons.
