Unit One has been made more concise by the eHmination of a separate chapter on verbals. The lessons in Unit Three have been rearranged to provide a clearer and more orderly presentation of how compound and complex sentences may be used to eliminate run-on sentences, comma splices, and fragments. All of the exercises in this edition are new, and, as in previous editions, most of them are in the narrative form which has been so popular with the students and instructors who have used the previous three editions of our book.
